| STEP 1: SETTING UP YOUR COMPUTER NOTE: The e-Book only works with Windows PCs. Not compatible with Mac or Linux at present - sorry. You need firstly to have an up to date version of Adobe Reader installed on your computer. If your installation of Adobe Reader is version 4 or earlier it will not work with the e-Book. Note that if you have a version of Adobe Reader more recent than version 4, but would prefer not to upgrade it unless necessary, then perform step 2 first. It will then become obvious if an upgrade is required. If in doubt, then simply upgrade to the latest version. Adobe Reader is available at no cost from www.adobe.com Select the correct one for your operating system (Windows Vista, Windows XP etc.) | |||
| STEP 2: DOWNLOADING THE E-BOOK Download the following title of your choice, and save it to your computer. There are two options for downloading. It may be that your browser or firewall will not permit the downloading of an executable (.exe) file. If so, download the ZIP file instead and then unzip it. Option A If you have a utility for unzipping files, then download and unzip one of the following files: Reverse_Engineering_Stonehenge_First_Edition.zip (2.24 Mbytes) The_Bones_of_Stonehenge_First_Edition.zip (11.8 Mbytes) A_Neolithic_Pilgrimage_First_Edition.zip (6.85 Mbytes) Option B If you do not have a utility for unzipping files, then download one of the following files. Firstly read the instructions below. It is necessary to save the file, not to run it. Reverse_Engineering_Stonehenge_First_Edition.exe (2.54 Mbytes) The_Bones_of_Stonehenge_First_Edition.exe (12.1 Mbytes) A_Neolithic_Pilgrimage_First_Edition.exe (7.17 Mbytes) Note: After clicking on the link, you may see a dialog box like this for example. Be sure to click on the Save button, NOT on the Run button. The file will then be saved to your computer. Then run it from your computer, for example by double clicking on the file within the My Computer window or within Windows Explorer.  At this point you should now have a file with a .exe filename on your computer. The file is an executable application. It has been scanned using an up to date virus checker (Kaspersky www.kaspersky.com ). Run it. Within Windows Explorer this is done by double clicking on the filename. Note: If you see an error message which states that it is not a valid Windows application, then check that the file size is correct. It may be sometimes that the download process is interrupted and does not complete correctly. If so, make another attempt at downloading. If your internet connection is unreliable and suffers connection drop-outs, there are utilities available that are intended to resume downloading following a drop-out. My internet connection is reliable, so I cannot advise you on which utility to use. If everything is OK, you will now see several sample pages. | ||||

NOTE: There is a minor software bug noticed when using Windows Vista - the part of the screen where the button is drawn does not always appear. Simply move the cursor to the top right corner of the application window, and it should pop into view. You can then click on it.
